Let's Have a Recital!!!

Hey Everyone!,

Wow it has been one year of Ukulele with Roy!  Let's celebrate!  I was thinking of having our very own Recital.  "Da Swingaz  1st. Annual Recital 2008"  It could be BYOB bring your own bento...not sure where or when it will be..but i was thinking everyone could pick a song to play.  Since we do have so many songs...maybe even play more..... everyone has their own  "solo's"  then also have some songs we could play together like IZ's somewere over the rainbow , surf , some other songs.... What do you think?  Sound like fun?

Come back to me with some ideas....please...let me know...

My nices Natalie & Amy just got their Kamaka's....soo cute....

we started to practice Twinkle Twinkle.....wow...they going rip in a year or two....only 4 1/2 now.....they are with a Halau in Waikiki...i wana get my sister-in-law to take them to the Kaimuki Dojo.....it would be too cool to strum with them one day at a festival.........

wax can be....don't rub to hard just soft with a microfiber cloth...and like magic it is gone.... check out the before and after shots....

Ukulele Festival....

It was fun to get some practice time in with every one....ho lori you are the chosen one....man 2 ukes in one week it must be better than christmas....!!!

It was also fun to get the gang together and practice....fun!!!!

I really love this wax...i use it to restore my old clocks in my house. Works really good on any finish really...very kind to any finish...

Da Tuning...

Love my tuner ITM-500 for those of you new to the Ukulele this is a great tool for tuning the ukulele. By default the tuner is set at 440mhz tuning...just turn it on remember our tuning is set for GCEA or Good Cooks Eat Alot...heh!

Da Recorder Sony PCM-D50

This is a great tool for the classes we have as well as to see how bad i really play....i like this one cause it is easy to get to the controls and the mics seem to have real nice pick up...but i also found that i can hook em up to my electric uke and record...not that i sound good or anything but it is nice to know i can do this....i

I have two new friends.....!!!

Hey everyone!,

I got two new friends this past week. Oh my god my UAS is bad..."ukulele acquisition syndrome"

The new uke is electric BugsGear EleUke Tenor TC100-MHP is real small for a tenor but it can go anywhere....and it is quite too...unless you got the amp hooked up to it....!!! The amp is a Roland Cube RX Guitar Amp...uses 6AA batteries and runs for hours....has a bunch of effects too. Little heavy but beats carrying around a generator....not that i will be having a concert any time soon...but it is kind of fun to see the different tones you can get out of one instrument...

Music Mike made things Right!

I met with Music Mike today and he exchanged my broken Uke for a brand new one...I got a new Mango Tenor...it is super glossy.  Great player when it is tuned...strings are still new so breaking em in...he let me choose which one...this one i think has a Jesus face on the back...can you see it?

I was practicing on Easter....and pop went the bridge....wow!  I then called "Music Mike" on ebay...he told me there was a problem with these spruce tops and said they have a new method of attaching the bridge .  He offered to replace the uke when the new shipment comes in next month..  So i guess i will wait...
